Outstanding lessons
Coach Brent gave us a sound intro to pickleball – understanding of the game, skills, rules and made it fun and informative. I was disappointed it was over. Coach showed us skills in a logical order with lots of breaks, good foundation and plenty of practice. Will join the club and play in the Rec program! Thank you

Excellent. Also enjoy the drills and play specific to the new or improved skill.

Defensive Dinking Clinic
Hi Coach
Feedback on Nov 20 Defensive Dinking Clinic
1. What did I learn?
That Margaret and Ayesha are killers!! Also to shift with my partner so that we are covering the court, respecting the X!
2. Impressions and/or Experience
So much fun. And 90 min of practice at the net! Perfect for me as I continue to recover from injury. Even the warm up offered learning about control and consistency with feedback from Coaches Brent and Ayesha.
Answers to 3 & 4 are copy / pasted from previous. Nothing new to add other than exclamation points 😎
3. Quality of lesson
As always, I found the quality of the lesson to be superb. Coach introduced our objective to start with and then moved us along in ways tailored to each of our learning needs and tendencies. The added bonus for me was modification of the lesson to suit an injury I’m recovering from. I can’t play games yet so it is fantastic to have the opportunity to maintain and improve specific skills while I wait.
4. How do lessons influence your decision to be a member of our club?
I came to Cedarbrae for the convenient location, the frequency and flexibility of the Recreational Play on weekdays, the ease of access, and the simplicity of sign up. I thought that was enough until I started the T300 Training Group in Jan 2024. I’m loving the skill development and the improvement in my game. The lessons and practice are what keep me at Cedarbrae. I’m less sure about the Rec and Rated Play offerings going forward. I’ll have to check it all out again once I am cleared to return to game play. My first preference would be to get to do lessons & practice & game play at the same club. It’s just less chaotic than juggling multiple memberships. That said, I’m quite sure I will follow Coach if / when he moves on. Or stick with the lessons & practice at Cedarbrae with Coach, but play elsewhere should the contentious behavior of some members continue on much longer. I’m not willing to continue to pay money but experience this tension for much longer.

Only Cedarbrae Offers In-depth and Progressive Pickleball Lessons
1. What did you learn in today’s lesson?
In this session we worked on how to properly block hard shots.
2. Please describe your impressions and/or experience.
I had a very enjoyable experience in last Sunday’s session. With our Coach’s demonstration, drills and most importantly individual feedbacks and tips he gave, I learned strategies on how to approach difficult shots and took away my fear of getting hit by the ball.
3. Please describe the quality of the lesson.
I have attended numerous lessons from Coach Johner and these sessions have consistently been highly informative, structured and effective.
4. How do lessons influence your decision to be a member of our club?
I decided to become a member of Cedarbrae Community Centre solely due to its pickleball program. So far I’ve only seen Cedarbrae offering in-depth and progressive pickleball lessons in all of Calgary.

Thank you, Karissa. It is always a pleasure to see you in class. I am happy to see you participating in our leagues now as well. I hope you will be with us at Cedarbrae for a very long time.
Thank you for this fabulous opportunity .
Hi! I have attended Pickleball lesson through Cedarbrae twice now, repeating the first class( excellent chance to review technique) and carried onto 102/103. Lessons . I find the instruction and pace of the lessons to be very professionally conducted , plenty of room for questions, inviting , and easy to follow. No wasted time, coach does an excellent job at “coaching”, keeping the rest of the room quiet so he is heard and understood by everyone . I also appreciate having a second coach there, it was very helpful in 102/103, as I’ve never played sports before and the rules are challenging to me, two coaches overseeing/helping in 3 courts was must useful!! I have referred 3 friends to this program and will continue to do . I have also signed up for the Pickleball league at Cedarbrae just this morning! Thank you for this fabulous opportunity .

Thank you for the review Adele. As a coach, it is very rewarding to watch students progress and develop. Now I get to watch you progress and develop in our leagues as well. And on top of that, you have referred three new students to Cedarbrae. The rewards from meeting you just keep on coming.
