The Revived. Peter Szabo. 2025.
Debut. Self-published. Canadian author. Thriller. Sci-Fi Mystery. Coming of age.
A privileged young man hunts for his missing mother—one of fifty people recently revived from a coma who all share a dire message about the fate of humanity.
The story is told from the point of view of Hutch, an immature 20-year-old child of privilege, son of a famous popstar. His mother’s revival and subsequent kidnapping forces him to confront who he is and what he must become in order to accomplish his mission.
The resulting vibe is science fiction thriller overlaying a coming of age story. We see Hutch at home in his mother’s world of comfortable affluence. Then we see Hutch on the road through Europe chasing clues while dodging bad guys and trying to stay alive.
Initially reluctant to jump into the maelstrom of intrigue surrounding “The Revived”, Hutch gradually realizes that his future—and the future of the world—requires making uncomfortable choices with unpredictable outcomes.
