There have been a lot of rumors circulating about my contract with Cedarbrae over the past three weeks.
As is always the case with rumors, they are mostly untrue.
In the interests of transparency, I am publishing my contract here for all to see.
In addition to very favorable financial terms for Cedarbrae, my contract has one very unusual feature. It guarantees me access to some unused court time for practice.
Under this agreement, I am allowed to invite whomever I want to these “flexible times.”
When the contract was created, it was assumed that I would use this time to invite players at my level to private events and private practices.
However, that is not going to happen.
Instead, I will be sharing this benefit with the students who are supporting my lessons programs.
Currently, Cedarbrae does not have a provision that allows members to rent courts for private practice.
So I will share the court time I have been given access to with my students for that purpose.
Anybody who wants to put together practice groups during times when the gym is empty, is invited to contact me. I will run the practices free of charge. Players will only pay the one punch they usually pay to play for the same amount of time.
This way my contract benefits everyone learning pickleball at Cedarbrae, not just the instructor.
