Description: Many new players find it difficult to learn the rules for pickleball when they are still learning how to control the ball. This is why I have divided Intro to Pickleball into three parts. First we learn to control the ball in A101. Then we learn some rules and how to keep score (A102). Then we learn how to play full games (A103).
Intended audience: New players who have completed A101 Pickleball Skills for Beginners.
Technical objective: Teach participants how to keep score and enough rules to get out and start playing with beginners.
Teaching method: I use an Active Coaching method for this course. I get people on the court hitting balls and then I drip in the content a little bit at a time.
Equipment: Players may bring their own paddles or use loaners that I always have available.
Differential coaching: Not all groups who book this lesson will have the same composition. Not all students who participate in this lesson will have the same experience or abilities. Therefore the coach will make adjustments on the fly to tweak the lesson plan to best fit the group. The coach will also attempt to give each participant at least one thing to work on in order to improve moving forward.
